Below are summaries of our local (Judson Center) and national (CASA) philanthropies:

Judson Center, Inc.

Judson Center is a residential care facility that provides a loving, safe, and therapeutic living environment for abused and neglected children, and foster and adoptive children. Recently they have formed an autistic program for children and support for their parents as well as groups and work programs for developmentally disabled adults. For support, we can offer financial assistance or donations for their food pantry, their linen closet, new clothes for children, and filled duffle bags (given to children entering and exiting the program). Volunteer projects may include sponsoring a pizza party or movie night, adopting a unit for their summer camp, or activities involving specific skills (tutoring, dance programs, etc.).

CASA: Court Appointed Special Advocates

Kappa Alpha Theta colleges and alumnae chapters have been long-time supporters of CASA. The program provides trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to speak up for abused and neglected children in court. With the information provided by CASA volunteers, judges are able to make informed decisions as to what is best for the child. Ultimately, this program attempts to provide children with a chance to still have a childhood.
